Coaching Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction
These Coaching Terms & Conditions apply to all coaching services provided by Bike Minded and Lance McDermott.
By booking or participating in any Bike Minded coaching session, clinic, workshop, group ride or coaching programme, participants agree to these Terms & Conditions.
Where a participant is under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms on their behalf.
2. Coaching Services
Bike Minded provides mountain bike coaching services including, but not limited to:
Beginner mountain bike coaching
Intermediate mountain bike coaching
Advanced mountain bike coaching
Freestyle MTB coaching
Dirt jump coaching
Slopestyle coaching
Rider progression programmes
Skills clinics
Group coaching sessions
Community coaching events
All coaching is delivered at the discretion of Lance McDermott and authorised Bike Minded representatives.
3. Participant Responsibility
Participants are responsible for ensuring they:
Are physically capable of participating
Inform Bike Minded of any relevant medical conditions
Follow all coaching instructions
Ride within their own ability level
Use appropriate safety equipment
Maintain a safe and roadworthy bicycle
Bike Minded reserves the right to stop participation where safety concerns arise.
4. Equipment Requirements
Participants must arrive with:
A safe and properly maintained bicycle
A correctly fitted helmet
Appropriate clothing and footwear
Suitable protective equipment for the riding environment
Additional protective equipment such as:
Knee pads
Elbow pads
Gloves
Full-face helmets
may be required depending on the coaching location or activity.
Bike Minded reserves the right to refuse participation if equipment is deemed unsafe.
5. Risk Acknowledgement
Mountain biking is an action sport and carries inherent risks.
These risks may include:
Falls
Collisions
Equipment failure
Uneven terrain
Jumps and obstacles
Adverse weather conditions
Serious injury
Permanent disability
Death
By participating, riders acknowledge and accept these risks.
6. Rider Conduct
Participants must:
Respect coaches and other riders
Follow instructions at all times
Behave responsibly
Avoid reckless or dangerous riding
Respect public spaces, venues and landowners
Bike Minded reserves the right to remove any participant whose behaviour creates a risk to themselves or others.
No refund will be provided where removal results from misconduct.
7. Participants Under 18
Participants under 18 years old must have:
Parent or guardian consent
Emergency contact information provided
Medical information disclosed where relevant
Parents and guardians remain responsible for ensuring information provided is accurate and up to date.
Bike Minded may require a parent or guardian to remain present during coaching sessions where appropriate.
8. Weather and Safety
Coaching sessions may be postponed, rescheduled or cancelled due to:
Severe weather
Unsafe trail conditions
Venue closures
Public safety concerns
Circumstances beyond our control
Where possible, alternative dates will be offered.
9. Photography and Media
Bike Minded may occasionally capture photographs and video content during coaching sessions for:
Marketing
Social media
Website content
Community promotion
Participants may request not to appear in promotional content by notifying Bike Minded before the session begins.
For riders under 18, parental consent may be required before images are used.
10. Medical Emergencies
Participants consent to Bike Minded taking reasonable action during an emergency, including:
Contacting emergency services
Contacting emergency contacts
Providing basic assistance until professional help arrives
Bike Minded does not provide medical treatment.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
Bike Minded and Lance McDermott shall not be liable for:
Loss or theft of personal property
Damage to bicycles or equipment
Injuries resulting from participant negligence
Injuries resulting from failure to follow instructions
Risks inherent to mountain biking activities
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion would be unlawful under UK law.
12. Insurance
Participants are responsible for arranging any personal insurance they consider appropriate, including:
Personal accident insurance
Medical insurance
Bicycle insurance
Equipment insurance
Bike Minded strongly recommends adequate insurance cover for all riders.
13. Booking and Cancellation
Bookings, payments, cancellations and refunds are subject to the separate Bike Minded Booking & Cancellation Policy.
14. Amendments
Bike Minded reserves the right to amend these Coaching Terms & Conditions at any time.
The latest version will always be available on the Bike Minded website.
